The training provides learners with the skills and knowledge to support people who have an Autism Spectrum condition.
The course explains the characteristics, theories and concepts relating to Autism; the significance of sensory perception and ways of supporting individuals. It also covers risk, safeguarding and how needs change for individuals and their families at different stages of their lives.

The course covers:
• Understanding what an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is and the different ways this can be presented
• How ASC can impact on the lives of people in different ways
• Understand the legal and policy framework that underpins good ASC practice
• Achieve and promote effective communication with individuals with ASC
• Understand why ASC may make people vulnerable; and how their needs can change
• Understand the wider concept of sensory challenges
• Understand how to provide effective support for people with an ASC
