This training course provides learners with knowledge and skills required to provide support to people with a disability in different settings including children and young people services, adult services, foster carers and schools and education providers

This course will examine the types, models and effects of disability, including how this relates to speech, language and communication, identify legislation relating to disability and discuss a range of support ideas for different settings and for working with various people when supporting people.

The aims of this training course are for learners to;

• Understand the different models of disability
• Understand how disability relates to speech, language and communication
• Understand the context of Special Educational Needs
• Understand the support needs of people with disabilities including multiple conditions or duel diagnosis
• Understand how to provide support to different people, including people with disabilities, parents and other family members, and work alongside other support professionals
