Dysphagia is when people have difficulty with swallowing foods or liquids and can vary from being specific to certain types of foods, to not being able to swallow at all. This may also include difficulties such as coughing when eating and regurgitating food.
This awareness training course provides learners with the knowledge of dysphagia and the strategies to provide effective support to people.
The aims of this training course are for learners to:
• Understand what Dysphagia is and how this can affect different people in different ways
• Understand how Dysphagia can affect swallowing
• Understand the possible causes of Dysphagia
• Understand ways of providing support to people who experience Dysphagia
