This training course provides learners with the knowledge and skills required to provide debriefing support to people who have been involved in or witnessed incidents at work which may cause distress or upset.
The course considers the potential causes of incidents which are relevant to the setting and take into consideration the feelings of everybody, including the person leading the incident, the staff members involved and people who may have witnessed the incident.
The aims of this training course are for learners to:
• Understand what de-briefing is and why it is so important
• Understand that the effects of incidents can be more than only physical and can have long term consequences
• Understand the personality needs and organisational skills required to complete effective and meaningful debriefing sessions
• Understand the information which needs to be included as part of a debriefing session
