Description and objective: A 3-day deep excavation course takes place at our new, purpose built, Mill Green Training Centre nr Hatfield in Herts. We also run a supervisory / managerial overview course over the 3 days. Where delegates learn to correctly monitor the timbering work.
Over view
Every year, people are killed or seriously injured when working in excavations. Excavation work has to be properly planned, managed, supervised and carried out to prevent accidents. This course is designed to train participants to excavate competently and safely, ensuring that they are fully compliant to:
* NRSWA specifications for excavating and backfill.
* The 1996 Construction Regulations
* Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)
Course Content
* Close Boarding technique to cover all types of ground
* False Frame timbering for irregular shaped trenches
* Use of hydraulic equipment
* Hydraulic vertical shoring
* Overview of Trench sheet piling
Learning methods
Theory, demonstration and practical participation
Notes
Candidates should bring PPE with them, i.e. Overalls, safety shoes/boots, safety helmet, safety goggles, ear defenders, gloves, high visibility safety jacket.
