Description and objective: The course delivers an understanding of the range of communication tactics used in communicating with D/deaf people. Also, learning about the barriers and discrimination that D/deaf people face in everyday life and about Deaf Culture.
On completion, delegates should have the confidence to apply what they have learnt in society and the workplace.
They will have an understanding of :-
How discrimination can limit opportunities.
What actions, can help reduce discrimination.
How deafness and attitudes to deafness affect communication.
How to identify the main groups of D/deaf people, and the methods of communication they use/prefer.
How to demonstrate an ability to use basic communication tactics.
How to identify differences between cultures based on sign language and spoken language
How to understand the potential of Technical Aids to Communications.
Understand Terminology and statistics.
Our training will also help you comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
