Description and objective: This course is designed, to introduce the fundamental techniques of cryptography and to see how these techniques can be applied to achieve confidentiality, data integrity, authentication (of message source and of identity) and non-repudiation.

Course Content
*Introduction
-The need for security
-Security services: confidentiality, data integrity, authentication (of message source and of identity) and non-repudiation
*Basic concepts
-Symmetric algorithms: stream ciphers, block ciphers, DES, AES, modes of operation (ECB, CBC, CFB, OFB), Message Authentication Codes (MACS)
-Asymmetric techniques: public key encryption (including RSA), key-agreement (Diffie-Hellman), digital signatures (including RSA, DSA) and Elliptic Curve Cryptography
*Entity authentication techniques
*Basic key management issues
