TP Provider’s Glossary

Title - maximum 50 characters (including spaces and punctuation)

This should be as descriptive and meaningful as possible as this is the primary hook for TP’s search engine

Code – Yours

This is your own internal code if you have one and helps you and users to identify courses quickly.

Code – TP's

Unique code that TP attributes to each course ‘event’. Comprises

  • Provider number
  • Course main category (01-09)
  • Course sub category (001-099)
  • Sequential number (000)
  • Method of delivery (01-06)
  • Dates to and from (dd/mm/yy/dd/mm/yy)
  • Preview Course:

Each course will have unique code. For example if you deliver the same course as public and in-house TP will recognise two different courses through method of delivery and dates to/from will be replaced by 00/00/00/00/00/00 for all non-public courses. Sequential public courses will be distinguished by changes in date field. Alterations that you make to course details such as title, description or suitability will be identified by TP and reflected in sequential number as this will be categorised as a new course.

    Primary category listing

Main TP business category where majority of users will look first for topics your course covers, followed by first level sub-category and second level sub-category. For example: Industry Specific Skills>Quality Assurance>Kaizen

    Secondary category listing - optional

Reserve TP business category where topics your course covers will have relevance followed by first level sub-category and second level sub-category. For example: Business and Management>Quality and Efficiency>Lean Management. Please note that each secondary listing will count as a separate, additional listing.

Description and objective - maximum 540 characters (including spaces and punctuation)

Full but concise description of topics covered and objectives of course. Should contain relevant ‘buzz’ words and appropriate industry acronyms and local jargon that will help TP search engine identify, select and display your course quickly and accurately.

Suitability - maximum 180 characters (including spaces and punctuation)

Concise description of positioning of course will help users to identify accurately whether a course is appropriate for their immediate and potential needs.

    Add/Edit Course:

    Price

    Select currency: - £ sterling - Euro - US$.

Please state the standard retail price per delegate before VAT. VAT will be chargeable depending on where the course is ‘consumed’. Inclusion of price will enable users to prioritise and budget as part of the search routine.

    Price includes

To enable users to compare prices and value for money you should indicate what the price per person includes. Residential courses will normally provide accommodation and full board and may include transport. These appear as simple icons on the course searches and will be included as parameters in the user search engine functionality.

    Price not specified

This is the alternative for providers that wish to negotiate prices for multiple applications, or will vary the price depending on the number of delegates or are flexible about what they are prepared to include in the price, or who may provide free courses or have funding available. This will provide pricing flexibility but a disadvantage is that, all other things being equal, un-priced (POA) courses will be displayed on TP below those showing prices where the user selects price as one of the search parameters.

    Duration

Shown in numbers of days. Select from seven different options, including part of periods.

    Difficulty level

Select from four options. This is a matter of opinion/judgement, depending on each course and its purpose. Some courses will require considerable experience or some prior training and qualification to be of use to attendees; others may be codified by examinations passed, whilst others will require no pre-acquired skills or knowledge.

    Public Course Information:

    Delivered as

Select from one of six options. In-house means that the course is not open to the public and is provided for the exclusive use of the user. The venue, duration, dates and what the price includes will either be arranged by the provider or the user and may be fixed or negotiable. However you must state the region in which you are able or prepared to offer the course. Public means that your course is open to the public and that it will take place at a set location and at a set date. So time and place must be specified. TP will categorise the same course given at different venues and/or dates as a separate, unique event. Distance Learning/on-line will have no venue or specified time although they may lead to specific examinations which will have set dates. Blended courses may be a combination of public, in-house or distance and on-line and the information pertinent to any component should be specified. On demand indicates no set date but may require a venue or at least regions in which the course would be held.

    Add another

After a course has been added you may add another course. This will automatically infill the data of the previous course added, amended or reviewed but to prevent repetition TP will not duplicate currently held data without change and will over-write existing records.

    Print course

This option prints a hard copy of the course entry.
