CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership

The CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership is designed to give you all the key skills and competencies you’ll need to become an effective middle manager.

Who’s it for?

This qualification is equally suitable for those already in a middle management role and those aspiring to be.

It can be delivered face to face for local students (North East England) – individuals or groups – but is also highly accessible remotely throughout the UK and by international students. All students are allocated a personal tutor with whom they will have regular contact – usually on a monthly basis.

Qualification Structure

You can tailor your qualification to meet your needs and areas of interest by selecting from the following units to achieve a minimum of 38 credits. All units are based on the national standards for management and leadership which define what managers need to know and do to be effective in their role.

How does it work?

Your personal tutor will provide you with support and direction to develop your skills and knowledge as per your selected units. Management Direct – CMI’s own hub containing a wealth of world class resources – is your usual starting point. You can work through articles, videos, checklists and e-learning materials that support the unit you are studying. Your tutor may provide additional materials and you will be encouraged to conduct your own internet and hard copy based research – with support of course. You will then discuss your learning during your monthly meeting (face to face or by phone) and plan your assessment and/or next steps. There is unlimited telephone and email contact throughout.

How will you be assessed?

Assessment is usually through practical work-based written assignments (2,500 – 3,000 words) – one per unit. Support is available on how to write and reference assignments. Verbal and written feedback is provided following each assessment.

Upon successful completion of the required number of units you will be awarded the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.

Investing in a qualification takes time and dedication but the results are well worth it. It is possible to study one unit and achieve an Award or two units and achieve a Certificate if time is tight. Both of these options offer an introduction into Management and Leadership and can be built on at a later date to achieve the full Diploma.
